this is an interesting approach- like a TIME magazine cover almost. My major concerns with this piece are the edges- they are very rough and could use a lot of cleaning up. Also, the source image is very low quality- The best way around this is to use sharper images, though that is hard to do in some cases. The other option is to resize the image, to about 500-750 Pixels wide, which will not only make the image smaller, but it will make the image appear crisper. I can tell you have a good eye for compostion, as I love how this is layed out- all you need to do is practice fundamentals like masking and you will be up to speed in no time
