Dick Cheney pictures
Dick Cheney
Sept. 13, 2005: H3LL FREEZES OVER, PIGS FLY, JESUS RETURNS . . . as President George W. Bush finally takes responsibility for something that went wrong on his watch (this time, the federal government's way-less-than-competent response to the massive destruction on the Gulf Coast by Hurricane Katrina).

Nation breaths a collective "DUH!" as it ponders what might have been: $14 billion to update those New Orleans levees and sea walls BEFORE vs. maybe $300 billion to fix the damage NOW.

Also, many thanks to Vice President Dick Cheney for modeling as one cool Satan (no one knows what Satan really looks like, but Dick seemed the closest fit). And congratulations to Dick's old company, Halliburton, for nabbing some of the heftiest no-bid rebuilding contracts in the wake of Katrina CNN Haliburton story.
