Lincoln and his Dog at Gettysburg | The unsaid reason why Obama got this particular dog - Lincoln had had one (and it even wore leis - who knew?), too and we all know how Obama likes to imitate Lincoln.
Team Obama has made a few mistakes already with the dog (name change for one, in my humble opinion), but putting leis on the dog.... a demeaning gesture. It's not a doll, it's a dog and the lei business would have been cute when they actually return to Hawaii... but in DC?? Not quite.
And remember... Obama had said earlier he didn't want a 'girlie' dog. Link.
Tonight on the news I heard that one of the things the Obamas must determine is where the dog is to sleep?? Say what??? It's not like this is the FIRST dog in the White House.
Both Biden and Obama have had dog issues. Biden gets a purebred from a breeder and gets heck for that. Obama gets a 'second hand' dog... yet, there is a controversy with that, as well, as below. It 'looks like' the dog was a gift from the Kennedys from the start.
