| The world's largest software maker, Microsoft, announced that it plans to invest more that $1 billion in the country of India over the next four years. Chairman Bill Gates made the announcement of the company's desire to deepen its presence in India. India exports $17 billion in software oriented products and services annually. The amount is expected to grow by nearly one third during the first part of 2006. The country has become a magnet for multinational companies, lured to India by wages that are one-fifth as high as in Western nations. Approximately fifty percent of Microsoft's investment in India will be spend on beefing up is existing research and development center, its global software delivery unit and also to expand to 33 cities with 700 retails outlets. |
