This contest is fueled by the following news: Natalie Portman (born Natalie Hershlag, Hebrew: נטלי הרשלג; born on June 9, 1981) is an Israeli and American film and stage actress. She became very famous thanks to her roles in the films "Leon" (1994, debut role) and "Closer" (2004, won the "Golden Globe" and was nominated for a BAFTA and an "Oscar" for Best Actress in a supporting role) and also due to the trilogy of the prequel to "Star Wars". She is the winner of an "Oscar", a "Golden Globe" and a "BAFTA" for"Best Actress" for her role in the film "Black Swan" (2011). In 2003, Natalie graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in psychology. There were other notable roles in films as well as in theatre in the career of Portman. In the 1990s, Natalie played the leading roles in the films "Beautiful Girls" and "Anywhere but Here". She shaved her head and learned to speak with a British accent for her role in "V for Vendetta" (2006), for which she won the 'Saturn' award in the "Best Actress" category. Portman also played leading roles in the historical dramas "Goya's Ghosts" (2006) and "The Other Boleyn Girl" (2008). In May 2008, she became the youngest juror member at the 61st Cannes Film Festival. Her directorial debut, the short film "Eve", opened the competition of short films at the 65th Venice Film Festival. Personal life and beliefs: At the age of 8, Natalie Portman turned vegetarian refusing any type of non-vegetarian food after seeing a demonstration of surgical lasers on a chicken during a medical conference with her father. A few years later, she abandoned all other products of animal origin. Natalie is a supporter of animal rights and for the environment and was also a member of the troupe "World Patrol Kids". She does not wear fur, feathers or leather. In 2007, Natalie introduced her own line of shoes, made of synthetic materials and also traveled to Rwanda with Jack Hanna to make the documentary film entitled "Gorillas on the Brink". In 2009, it was announced that the actress would take part in the PETA campaign (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), directed against the use of fur. In 2004 and 2005, Natalie visited Uganda, Guatemala and Ecuador as the Ambassador of the organization "FINCA International", which helps women living in poor countries get micro credit to start their own business. In a backstage interview during the concert "Live 8" in Philadelphia and during the program "Foreign Exchange with Fareed Zakaria" from channel PBS, the actress also talked about microfinance. In March 2006, Natalie Portman gave a lecture at Columbia University on terrorism and counterterrorism, talking about her film "V for Vendetta". On April 29, 2007, Natalie Portman discussed her association with FINCA and the benefits it can bring to the women and children of third world countries on the Sunday morning program "This Week" on channel ABC with George Stephanopoulos. In the autumn of that year, Natalie visited several universities, including Harvard, the University of California at Los Angeles and at Berkeley, Stanford, Princeton, New York and Columbia universities to inform the students about the power of microfinance and to persuade them to join FINCA. In the May issue of Vogue magazine in 2002, Natalie stated that actor come musician Lukas Haas and musician Moby are her close friends. Although, it was reported that the actress was dating Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5, Adam confirms that they were just friends. It was assumed that Natalie had also dated Nat Rothschild, a member of the prominent multibillionaire family. Portman started dating Venezuelan folk singer Devendra Banhart after appearing in the video of his song "Carmensita". They ended their relationship in September 2008. Presently, Natalie Portman is seeing Benjamin Millepied, a dancer in the New York Theatre Ballet. Benjamin Millepied is a French-born Jew, whom she met while shooting the film "Black Swan". On December 27, 2010, a spokesperson of the actress informed the press that Natalie and Benjamin were engaged and expecting a baby. On June 14, 2011 Natalie gave birth to a baby boy.
