This contest is fueled by the following news: Inventor Scott Pinizzotto has become accustomed to the giggles that errupt when he brings up the subject of his high-tech toilet seats that rinse and warm a user's behind. Nonetheless, Pinizzotto contends that he is sitting on a gold mine (so to speak). He calls his invention Swash, an upscale toilet weat made by his San Francisco startup venture, Brondell, Inc. He indicated that he is trying to educate people that there is a more hygienic and comfortable way to go to the bathroom. Swash was introduced nearly a year ago. The device cleanses with a spray of warm water, relieving users the hassles of using toilet paper. Swash features heated seats as well. The top of the line model also comes with a warm air dryer and remote control. Swash retails for $429 to $549. Sales have risen by fifty percent every three months. While bidets are common in Europe and parts of Asia, the high-tech toilets have not made much of "splash" in the United States as of yet.
