 In a tale that sounds rather like a Wallace and Gromit flick, upset villagers in northeast England have hired armed guards to protect their beloved communal vegetable gardens from a suspected monster ... and that monster is a rabbit. The monster rabbit apparently has been attacking the gardens and nabbing a wide range of veggies, including Leeks, Japanese onions, parsnips and spring carrots. The twelve allotment holders of the garden in Felton, north of Newcastle, have elected to hire two marksmen with air rifles and orders to shoot to kill the monster rabbit post haste. The gardeners contend that this rabbit absolutely is massive. They maintain that its prints are huge, about the size of a deer's. Jeff Smith, 63, claims to have seen the giant bunny -- a rabbit with black and brown fur. He said that one of the rabbit's ears is bigger than the other. Three other allotment owners with the garden also claim that they have seen the monster rabbit. A fifth sighting was from a local woman who claims she spotted the rabbit literally thundering across her lawn early one morning. |
