Contest Directions:  A recent movie from Luc Besson, Angel-A, shows a modern day guardian angel who came down from heaven disguised as a woman to help her man. I noticed Paris Hilton didn't get the part.
In this contest you are asked to photoshop angels from paintings, and modernize them in any way - add modern clothes, habits, accessories, etc.

| | An angel is a supernatural being, expressing the wills of God and possessing superhuman abilities and resources.
Concept about angels- protectors, sent for the welfare of human being after secret baptism, exists in Orthodox Christianity.
In the Bible, small letters are used while mentioning the fallen and all offenders (speaking against the God) angels and upper case letters are used while referring to Holy angels.
Hierarchy of Angels:
First rank (Highest hierarchy)
Seraphim — Six-winged angels. “Flaming”, “Fire”. The angels’ burn eternally from love and zeal for God and attract many towards it.
Cherubims — Intercessors, intellects, propagators of knowledge, outpouring of wisdom—
Four-winged and four-faced angels. Their name means: outpourings of wisdom, enlightenment. Satan was one of the members of Cherubim rank.
Thrones «God-bearing» — God sits on them as on Throne and pronounces his own verdict.
Second rank (Middle hierarchy)
Dominions— Teach landlords to lead a wise life, specified by God, teach to control the senses and subdue the sinful desires.
Virtues — Create miracles and ниспосылают благодать чудотворения и sagacity to saints of God.
Powers – Possess power to subdue the devil’s power.
Third rank (Lowest in hierarchy)
Principalities (Archons) — They are entrusted with the task to control the entire Universe and elements of Nature;
Archangels (Chief of angels) — Celestial instructors and teach the human beings how to lead lives;
Angels — Very close to human beings. They herald intentions of God and preach human beings to lead a virtuous and holy life.
God bestows Angels with powers. He specifies the capabilities, the Angels are required to possess. Several capabilities were demonstrated in many Christian legends:
- Angels can be invisible;
- Angels can fly;
- Clairvoyance;
- Angels can demolish entire cities;
- Angels can appear physically in human body;
- Free will to select.
Usually, Angels are portrayed (depicted) in the form of white-haired androgynous youth with wings (invisibility symbol) in white linen clothing with golden bands. Habitat of angels – heavens, which were created before compact heaven (Genesis 1.8.) |
