Contest Directions: Russian president Vladimir Putin announced the resumption of long-range nuclear bomber patrols which is part of the Kremlin's plan to restore Cold War military units and the Russia's world status of the major military power. The allocated budget for such military expansion is over $200 billion, and will include the doubling of aircraft production by 2025 with major increase in the number of nuclear missiles, aircraft carriers, and tanks. Russia's substantial resources of oil and gas sold to Europe, allowed massive cash injections into Russian military machine, which is getting stronger than ever.
Take any military elements - weapons, uniforms, etc. - and add them to works of art - paintings, sketches, or statues. Examples may include drafted Mona Lisa in khaki uniform holding a machine gun, tanks fighting with dragons, nuclear blast destroying the ancient city of Pompeii, etc. We will accept military elements of any country from the 1980s till the present days.

This contest is fueled by the following news: Military is a collection of land, naval, air and other militarized forces of the state. Painting a type of fine arts associated with conveying visual images by applying colors on hard or soft cloth surfaces, and also works of art created in such way. Most widely known are works of art performed on flat or nearly flat surfaces like fixed to a canvas-stretcher, wood, cardboard, paper, treated surfaces of walls (fresco) and etc. Land armed forces is army contingent, organizational unit of armed forces. "Army" can also be used for naming various militarized and paramilitary organizations, often not part of a country's official armed forces. This term is used by the founders and members of these organizations for infusing weight to their movement and indicating its aggressive direction (Republican Army of Ireland, Kosov Freedom army). Apart from this, term "Army" is also used for peace civil organizations, especially when the structure resembles military structure (Salvation Army). In general, use of word "Army" for calling the civil organizations means fight of its members against somebody or something. In colloquial language, term "Army" is often used for indicating large groups of people, beings or objects, as a rule carrying out coordinated actions, more often aggressive: "Assembled army of football fanatics", " Army of robots is working in shops", "Entire army of ants attacked on termite nest". Armed forces: Generally, all military forces of State, meant for carrying out combat operations and accomplishing other tasks in case of war, are understood as "Armed forces". Notion "Military" is used as most common synonym. Armed forces or army is state set-ups, meant for safeguarding and defending the states and protecting its sovereignty from external threats. As a rule, the armed forces come under a special Ministry. The following are not ranked in the armed forces: Military formations, located under the police (militia, internal troops, carabineers etc), Border security department (Border security forces, coast guards) and special services. Military is usually divided into Navy, Air Force or aviation, land troops. Army of various States differs by Strength, formation principles, organization structure and accomplishing functions. These features are determined by the Scale of country, its geographical position and historical, social and cultural traditions. For example, armed forces of Monaco Princedom are less than Military orchestra (85 persons in orchestra). Land forces: In individual cases, armed forces, meant for carrying out combat operations on land, are understood under military. In this case, organizationally army can differ from fleet (naval forces or navy) and sometimes even from aviation (air force). Military contingent: Army, as an organizational unit of armed forces, represents itself as a large pool of troops and corps, working under a single headquarters on permanent or temporary basis. Military is divided according to mixed composition and branches. Mixed composition army: Military units and portions of various army branches, special troops and rear are combined together. As a rule, they are formed to execute complex tasks on a specific assigned territory. For example: Troops, field and shock army. Branches of Army: Combination of troops and units of separate regiments and also can include security and rear. Formed as organizational units, meant for execution of specific tasks in the scope of larger formations (region, theater and army groups). For example tank, mechanized, air force, air defense etc. Strength and composition of military can be different depending on the worked-out principles and traditions for formation of armed forces in the states. However, in the hierarchy, organizational unit of army are one of the largest troop formations.
