His name is synonomous with "masterpiece." He is considered to be one of the greatest artists of all time. The second of five brothers, Micelangelo Buonarroti was born on March 6, 1475, at Caprese in Tuscany. He was the son of Ludovico di Leonardo di Buonarotto Simoni and Francesca Neri. On the day he was born his father wrote that a child of male sex born and that he named the baby Michelangelo. Michelangelo always considered himself to be a Citizen of Florence. |
