Romantic-comedy queen and one of America's Sweethearts, Meg Ryan turns half a century old this Saturday.
Despite her modern-day success, Ryan didn't start off as a famous actress. She attended New York university and started her acting career only to make extra money as she worked through her journalism degree.
The perky blonde made a name for herself with the hit romantic-comedy When Harry Met Sally in 1989, where she starred opposite Billy Crystal.
Here are some interesting facts about Meg Ryan:
* The one thing she hates most about her body is her exceptionally large feet, taking a size 11. One of her biggest frustration is finding a pair that fit. Because of Meg's foot size, she tends to use a "foot double" in movies.
* She has an asteroid named after her, 8353 Megryan.
* She was Prom Queen in high school.
