Mannequins as Humans
Contest Directions: [ Mannequins have been long used for crash tests and in first aid and CPR training. Now hospitals have access to $20,000 computerized mannequin which actually delivers a plastic baby and can simulate 12 various emergency situations - a step in making mannequins with more human functions. ]
So, there you have it - mannequins are not dummies any more - they are actually more humans than many of us. They already show us how to deliver babies. Next, they will show us how to make babies. Sure, the whole process is a simulation, but who says women don't simulate in real life? I had a mannequin girlfriend once, and she was the best girlfriend I had - never bugged me with silly questions, didn't spend hours in clothes departments, and always sat next to me while I drank beer and watched football. It's a pity we broke up - she left me for another mannequin.
In this contest you are asked to show mannequins living as humans, and doing jobs and relationships humans do.

This contest is fueled by the following news: A person who has participated in CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes has seen the old fangled CPR mannequin up close and personal. Today there is a high tech and newer version of the mannequin being used at Baptist Hospital that is helping doctors and nurses learn more about the delivery of babies. The mannequins are designed to aid these healthcare professionals in becoming more adept at handling emergencies that can occur during the birthing process. What makes the whole process unusual is the mannequin itself, called Noelle. Noelle is a $20,000 doll that is computerized. Noelle actually delivers a plastic baby and can be programmed to simulate a dozen different emergency situations. With this birthing model, healthcare professionals can learn about a number of different obstetrical emergencies. For example, Noelle can stop breathing. The hospital which is home to Noelle delivers over 6,800 babies a year. The hospital staff says that is focusing on the health and safety of mothers and their babies. The hospital staff believes that thanks to the mannequin the error rates of staff members during deliveries is below the national average. The OBGYN staff at the hospital consists of nearly 400 employees. Their ultimate goal is to reduce overall birth related trauma rates by ten percent.
