| The oldest employee of the American news channel CNN, Lou Dobbs, has submitted his resignation letter. The journalist said this on Wednesday during the daily program “Lou Dobbs Tonight”. The recording of his address to the television audience was placed on the CNN site.
Dobbs has worked with CNN almost without a break since its inception in 1980. In 1999, he left the channel due to a conflict with its management, however returned back to the channel after two years. Now, the journalist intends to concentrate on his social life. According to his words, he would like to change the situation in which, “party and ideology” have the paramount influence on many issues in the country instead of the objective empirical approach with analysis and discussions”.
In the USA Dobbs is mainly known as an active supporter of the struggle against illegal immigration. As informed by “The Washington Post”, in 2009, he raked up a second wave of scandal, connected with suspicions by Americans that the US President Mr. Barack Obama wasn't born on USA territory.
By that time, the Hawaii state authorities have already acquired the information that Mr.Obama was born in Hawaii and not in Kenya as his opponents maintained. Nevertheless, Dobbs demanded that Mr. Obama should personally prove his American origin.
In October 2009, Dobbs complained that his home was fired at by unknown persons; however, the police assumed that the bullet was shot from some hunter’s weapon and accidentally shot at his home.
As explained by The Washington Post on the channel Fox News - the direct competitor of CNN, which is known for their critical attitude towards Mr. Obama, the television network is not going to hire Dobbs. Moreover, it is stated on Fox that Dobbs is considered to be responsible for the negative image of Latin Americans in the country.

Lou Dobbs is terminating his contract with CNN and leaving the network. Or is he being terminated? Dobbs has been with CNN since its inception, but lately caused a lot of controversy for the network that tries to position itself as "unbiased". Lou's extreme anti-illegal immigration standpoint was too much for CNN as well as his "conspiracy theory" that President Obama is not an actual US citizen. He also provoked a protest this year by different Hispanic groups who complained that CNN allowed Dobbs "to spread lies and misinformation about us each night." In his statement Dobbs offered reasons for his premature departure: "Some leaders in media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond my role here at CNN and to engage in constructive problem-solving, as well as to contribute positively to a better understanding of the great issues of our day."
