Leaders of the cash starved metropolis are considering selling the naming rights for "Los Angeles" to a variety of different products. For example, Pepsi or Coke could become the city's official soft drink ... for a fee, of course. BMW or Lexus could become the official automobile ... and so forth. Lawmakers in L.A. are saying that the financial crunch the city is experiencing requires either more tax dollars to be raised or the implementation of unique and varied methods of raising revenue. L.A. would not be the first major city to jump into the sponsorship game. It's already going on in New York City and San Diego.
