Bush's Republican party and with a new compromise in place, moved on Tuesday to clear the way for a confirmation vote on one of Bush's most controversial judicial nominees. Bush is trying to elevate Texas Supreme Court Justice Priscella Owen to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Ciruit. Owen initially was nominated by Bush four years ago. She is now facing a confirmation vote thanks to the compromise reached by Senators on Monday night. The real test of the agreement may come when Bush puts forth a nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court at some time in the future.
