| Joseph Biden (Born November 20, 1942) is an American politician, the USA senator from Delaware State (from 1973) and member of the Democratic Party. According to CNN, Barack Obama, the candidate for president of the US from the Democratic Party, has selected Joseph Biden as the candidate for the post of Vice-president on August 23, 2008.
Joseph Biden is known for his contradictory statements against Barack Obama. During one of his speeches, he said: “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy, I mean, that's a storybook, man”.
The majority of Americans interpreted this comment as racially unacceptable. Biden apologized before Barack Obama. In one of the interviews, Obama confirmed that he interpreted this statement as offensive.
Joseph Biden became a senator at the age of 30 in 1973 and since then was re-elected by the State of Delaware.
Senator Barack Obama, leader of the presidential race from the democrats, and Joseph Biden, senator-democrat and candidate for the post of vice-president of the United States, for the first time came together in a pre-election meeting, stating, that America should put an end to the “failed foreign policy” of George Bush and not allow John McCain, the republican candidate supporting the same foreign policy to enter the White house.
“We know what we'll get from the other (Republican) side. It'll be four more years of the same policy which caused the economic catastrophe inside the country and failed international policy”, - stated Obama, speaking on Saturday along with Biden in Springfield’s (Illinois State).
Projecting Senator Biden as running mate for the post of Vice President, Obama stressed that Biden would be an “excellent vice-president”.
Thus, without citing the name of the vice-president of the United States Richard Cheney, Obama stated that Biden is a different political leader and will not create a “secret working group on energy filled with representatives of big oil companies and will not be a vice-president who misinterprets the facts”.
In his statement, Joe Biden also criticized the energy and foreign policy of the Bush administration.
“We are not in a position to allow four more years of such foreign policy, which has destroyed our alliances and sacrificed our moral standing in the world", - stated Biden.
According to the candidate for the post of vice-president of the United States, American voters should not allow “four more years of “no-energy” policy, which is written by “Big Oil” and which makes us, in our country, more and more dependent on hostile countries, that literally puts America under threat”.
Citing that McCain “supports 95%” of the policies of Bush, Biden warned that the election of the republican candidate to the White House implies that the present policy will not change.
“You cannot change America, if you know, that the first four years of the president will look the same way as the previous eight years of presidency of George Bush", - warned Biden.
It seems that a comfortable victory may not be possible. Nevertheless, Biden will help Obama in garnering additional votes. He is extremely popular in the eastern states and especially, among “Blue Collars” in the USA – white hard workers, who till this time, did not decide whether “Obama is required” or not. Biden can pull some votes to his side. But his biggest quality perhaps, that he is not Hillary Clinton and even if he tries hard, he may not eclipse Obama.
In the USA, 65-year-old Joseph Biden, who is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations from 2001, is almost in unison called leading expert of the democrats on foreign policy. Particularly, Biden, indicates a weighted opinion, is in a condition to provide 47-year-old Obama the insufficient experience in foreign affairs, for which he is abused for by opponents and doubting voters. With Biden, the victory of Obama is 100% certain if the democrats are to be trusted.
