This contest is fueled by the following news: Jail is one of the types of penitentiary establishments for the service of criminal sentencing characterizing in holding the prisoners in a prison. In many cases, in colloquial language, jail means any establishment for accomplishing the criminal punishment (colony, investigation isolator, isolator of temporary keeping etc.). In medieval times and before, jails contained not only criminals but also mentally sick people and people who are not obliging the rules. Some jails have punishment cells special isolated rooms for regime violators. A jail is the establishment meant for the execution of punishment in the form of the elimination of freedom. People under investigation can also be put in jail. The place of imprisonment, used to be dungeons in ancient times, however the appearance of the modern bourgeois system of jail is related to the start of capitalism, as in a slave and feudal society, punishment generally had a self mutilation character or had the pecuniary equivalent of caused harm. Imprisonment in a dungeon and in a tower was used rarely. The convicted for eliminating freedom generally was handed over to the so called criminal slavery and they accomplished heavy jobs in mines, the construction of roads, on sheds etc. First the time, a jail as place for keeping appeared in Europe in the 16th century (in the Netherlands in 1595, a jail was created - Tsuhtahouse, for men prisoners). Initially jails were used for isolating the criminals for frightening and deactivation. With the increase of convicts in jails, men were isolated from women, major convicts from minor, and also convicts considering the crime and punishment period were kept separately. The infamous heiress Paris Hilton was convicted to serve 45 days in Jail for violating her parole. Much to everyone's surprise the Sheriff let her out of the LA county jail just a day after she started serving her time. The sheriff cited that the heiress was cooperative while serving her time in jail, however she felt depressed and showed suicidal tendencies in her behavior.
