| Jack Black (birth name is Thomas J. Black Jr.) born on August 28, 1969 is an American actor, comedian and musician. Jack Black is member of the rock group Tenacious D. Biography: Early life: Black was born in California in a family of two engineers: Judith and Thomas William Black. The mother of Black is a Jew. His father embraced Judaism. Therefore, the son was brought up as Jew. On “The Tonight Show”, he said that most probably his surname derives from a Scottish Blacksmith. His parents divorced when Jack was 10 yrs old. Black had a dog, a mix of Bull mastiff and Rottweiler with the nickname “Chico”. Chico died from parvovirus soon after the divorce of parents. Jack moved together with his father to Culver City and regularly visited his mother till the end of his first year at UCLA College when his father moved to France. Music career: Jack Black plays on the acoustic and electric guitar. He is a member of the satirical rock group from Los Angeles “Tenacious D”. Personal life: Jack Black married Tanya Haden. He is the father of two children. Comic style: Be it a drama or comedy, Jack Black has a rather original manner of playing the roles.
