A course at the University of Kansas is devoted to debunking creationism and intelligent design. The course has been cancelled after the professor who planned to teach the class caused a true furor by sending an email mocking Christian fundamentalists. 25 students had enrolled in the course, originally called "Special Topics in Religion: Intelligent Design, Creationism, and Other Religious Mythologies. The course had been scheduled for the spring term. Professor Paul Mirecki, chairman of religious studies, cancelled the class after he sent an email to members of a student organization in which he referred to religious conservatives as "fundies" and said that his course would be a "nice slap" in their collective "big fat face."
