Around the globe, zoo managers have found themselves using a great deal of ice to keep their animals cool as the summer temperatures continue to soar. Two four week old minature piglets, names Perky and Pinky and who live at Pennywell Farm and Wildlife Center, cool off using ice. The Farm and Wildlife Center is located near Buckfastleigh in England. In fact, the little pigs kept cool thanks to a large ice lolly that was filled with vegetables. Catherine Tozer, the assistant manager of the Warm and Wildlife Center, said that the hot temperatures have been hard on the animals. She said the ice lollies were working very well. In France, a polar bear kept cool with a giant ice cube flavored with makerel sauce. |
