IBM PC turns 25 picturesAdvanced Photoshop Pictures Contest - 29 image entries
Contest Directions: There's something sad and nostalgic about realizing that it was the
whole 25 years ago when IBM PC first launched - at least for me. It
seems that the good old days were just yesterday when I got my very
first computer and spent sleepless nights playing computer games in
front of monochrome monitor with huge floppy disks. Those boxy strange
looking machines became our friends and it's hard to imagine our life
without them any more. Ironically, IBM is not even in the PC business any longer - they sold its PC division to Chinese company Lenovo in 2004. On IBM PC's 25th anniversary let us pay tribute to computers of good old days, but let's go a bit further in time and photoshop one of the following:
1) Famous paintings to include
personal computers & laptops or computer components.
2) What the world would be like if computers existed much earlier. E.g. photoshop old photos to include computers & laptops.
Please note that
only "IBM-type" personal computers and laptops are allowed, no Apple
macs please.

Truly, many people considered it to be a match that was created in heaven -- well, computer heaven, that is ... The marriage of Microsoft and IBM (truly a Spring - Fall romance) ended up changing the look of homes and offices the world over. August 12th marks the 25th anniversary of the IBM personal computer entry into the marketplace. The launch brought together MS and DOS, Microsoft with the disk operating system. The IBM entry into the world of the personal computer changed the way people looked at the personal computer for good. The Apple Commodore and Radio Shack Tandy products ended up being left in the proverbial dust. Literally almost overnight, the personal computer came to be used for business purposes. A major advertising campaign by IBM ensued. In not time, a desktop computer became an early 1980s status symbol. On the celebration of the 25th anniversary, IBM is out of the personal computer business all together. The company sold its personal computer division a couple of years ago to a Chinese company. Of course, Bill Gates -- who was around 25 years ago -- kept his share in the personal computer business 25 years later. |
