Add a Shadow to the Rider Layer, to help sell that they are in the same scene. Do this by using the Selection Tool, to select the Transparent portion of the Layer. Then, Go -->To: Select -->Invert Selection. Now you should have a Marquee line all the way around the Rider. If there are any open holes in the Rider Layer. Select those areas also with the Selection Tool. Now, Highlight the Background Layer just below, then Go -->To: Layers -->Duplicate Layer. Highlight the Blank Transparent Layer. Now, In the Color Palette, make sure it set to Black. Once set to Black, Go -->To: Edit -->Fill. Here you will Fill the Selected Area with 100% Black. Choose Foreground Color in the Drop Down Menu, and click OK. Now you have an exact Shadow Copy of the Rider Layer. Grab the Arrow Tool and position the Layer so it most closely resembles the other Shadows in the Background. Use the Opacity Slider in the Layers Palette to Adjust the Shadow to the Overall Picture. You can soften the Shadow by using the Filters --> Blur -->Gaussian Blur. Use the Blur Percentage Slider to Adjust and Soften the Edge of Your Shadow Layer. Erase Any Areas that do not Overlay the Object Layer. You can also use the Gaussian Blur to create Depth of Field. You do this by making a Duplicate Layer or Your Background Layer, Apply the Gaussian Blur Filter to the New Background Copy. Now, by using the Opacity Slider in the Layers Palette, you can Adjust You Depth of Field at any time. If you use this Technique, along with Filter -->Sharpen Edges and Filter -->Sharpen on your Rider or Foreground Object Layer, You can make Your Subject Almost Look Like it will Pop-Up.
