| | A Quebec company has announced that it is producing a cigarette called VitaCig that the company claims will not stain teeth, has less of an offensive odor than regular brands of smokes and actually contains benefitical ingredients such as vitamin C. The cigarette was invented by Roger Ouelette for his wife, who has been a pack a day smoker since she was 14 years old. He told CTV News that the cigarette replaces some of the vitamins that are lost through smoking and then some. Health Canada maintains that it is skeptical about these claims. The agency stated that it has no evidence that VitaCig really is any different than regular brands. The agency emphasized that smoking is harmful. VitaCig will be available in Quebec at 2,000 stores and may soon be sold outside the province in the near future. Ouellete's wife indicates that she is pleased with her husband's product, noting that she feels she does not now need to quie smoking. |
