Actually, it is very simple here. We suggest having only two guitar tone types in the world.
Acoustic & electric tones & that’s all. And now, we shall take up the differences.
Acoustic tone is raw tone of the instrument. This is the tone, which is heard when guitar is played without an amplifier. It is not a distorted sound of guitar. It is true tone. And still the same question, what is the instrument. EVERY GUITAR HAS ACOUSTIC TONE.
Sometimes, this tone is sufficiently silent & unclear in guitars. But it exists & piezoceramic transducers are available presently, aim of which is to carry the initial acoustic tone to the amplifier without distortions. It is possible to use piezoceramic transducers on any guitar! Every guitar has its own acoustic tone. Entire issue is whether such tone is pleasant or not.
And, still it is possible to make any guitar with electric tone. Because, it is possible to stuff any type of guitar into deforming amplifier and also fit electromagnetic transducer on any guitar.
Simply, the result will be different. Some guitars are appropriate for acoustic tone & some for electric.
And, attempts were made to have both the tone types on guitars. It's up to the taste – choice is yours – many diversified things are invented in the world.
And, it would be simple if purpose of the guitar is taken into consideration & look for any type of tone.
If it has electric tone (it has electromagnetic transducer) then the guitar is used with amplifier &its acoustic tone is unnecessary for anybody, which indicates that finally it is an electric guitar. It is created to produce electric tone.
And, if this guitar is created for acoustic sound, then it is an acoustic guitar. And, is it worth to have a piezoceramic transducer fitted on the guitar or a suggestion comes your way to use the guitar with microphone is a secondary issue. These are just amplification methods.
Guitars such as Parker Fly, Godin LGX exist, which are created for both tone types.
I would suggest naming them “electro-acoustic” guitars. Even though the term is already assigned and more often, guitars created for acoustic tone and possessing piezo-electronics, are called “electro-acoustic” guitars in the shops.
BODY
Situations arise when people cannot differentiate the acoustic guitar from semi-acoustic or semi-acoustic from electric guitar. In this case, what is not clear to people. Whether tone of guitar or its structure of the body.
Still confusion exists in the world with regard to semi-acoustic guitar.
Erroneous opinions exist with respect to this guitar:
* Hollow inside the body & thus with thin body - twice thinner than the acoustic guitar;
* Guitar with hollow inside the body & resonator holes not in the form of a single round-shaped hole (as on traditional acoustic guitars) and in the form of a paired “f”;
However, these are all incorrect definitions. Concept of semi-acoustic instrument has originated from free translation of English term Semi-Hollow (Semi-Acoustic).
How designated this term, which entered the world of guitars in 50s of twentieth century?
Let's try to understand. If we analyze the bodies of all guitars, it can be observed that the guitars have three types of designs:
* Solid body: one-piece body (without resonant hollows inside);
* Hollow body: hollow body (completely hollow inside & consisting of three parts – sounding board, bottom deck & “ribs”);
* Semi-hollow body: Semi-hollow body (having solid wooden middle portion inside & hollow ribs)

Fender was founded by Leo Fender. The Stratocaster was introduced onto the market in 1954 and remains a highly sought after instrument.
