A competitive auction is expected to be utilized to sell the company. The Finacial Times reported the development. Rock legends including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and Kurt Koban have all used Stratocasters. The company might fetch up to $500 million through the sale. Fender was founded by Leo Fender. The Stratocaster was introduced onto the market in 1954 and remains a highly sought after instrument.
