Actually, you mught be very surprised what it really is if I could get the source pic link to work. It's a giant clam, with two halves book-matched and seamed together to form the alien image. Then a few chop-ins and a bit of illustration here and there on the claws. Some of the most alien looking things in the universe are not out there, but right in our oceans.

Woah, how freaky is that...... I had the same thought.... Eeeeeeeeee, phreakin psychic. When I was building the chop and had the face defined I went, "Da-em yo iz ugly but at least you are balanced."
