Yahoo has announced that it is dropping Google as its default search engine for sites based in the United States. This is seen as the beginning of the end of a highly publicized marriage of convenience between the two operators. Yahoo will now be using its own Yahoo Search Technology using a number of new search technologies including Inktomi and Overture. Yahoo is also the owner of AltaVista and Fast Search and Transfer.
