Eleven weeks after conceding his Republican Party took a "thumpin"' from voters, Bush tried to position himself as the conciliator in chief - but only up to a point. Democrats, who won control of Congress in November elections, already have served notice that they will fight his proposals on Iraq, health care reform and other issues. |
