This contest is fueled by the following news: The price of gas at the pump in the United States has hit a record high for the second consecutive day. This is according to the American Automobile Association in a statement released on Wednesday. The average price per gallon was $1.74. The average per gallon was based on the prices being charged at 60,000 stations. The next highest price was set last summer. The U.S. government has warned previously that prices would average $1.81 in April and May, just before the summer driving season starts. About 2/3 of all crude that ends up refined in the United States is imported.
