A man in Washington state, a retired firefighter, grows giant pumpkins and has produced the winning pumpkin at the 31st annual Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off. Joel Holland's pumpkin weighed in at 1,229 pounds. His pumpkin was 49 pounds heavier that the one that took the prize last year. The pumpkin measured 13 feet and 7 inches around its circumference.
