| | Clawed frogs that are native to Africa seem to be a major problem in San Francisco. Biologists in California actually are alarmed over this species. These frogs will eat almost anything at all and are said to breed like crazed creatures. Dr. David Wake says that these frogs are a threat. He noted that they are cute, on top of it all. Thus, they tend to be captured by children and end up, in time, infiltrating other ponds and waterways. The doctor went on to note because of their huge appetites -- both for food and reproduction -- these frogs can drastically alter an environment. These frogs are also very hearty. They can live under ice or even in salty water. The also burrow into the ground and can survive dry conditions as a result.
Frogs (Diplasiocoela) have seven front cords. Front are bent cords, the eighth one is different; sometimes all are frontally bent too. They include true, narrow mouthed and flying frogs (flying frogs family mainly consist of arboreal frogs)
* Spade-footed toad (Аnомосоеla) – spinal cords are front bent or with loose inter cord discs. They include one single family of spade-footed toad
Primary tail less frogs (Proanura) include only one family and one fossil type found in sediments of lower Trias
Some are only terrestrial (their fertilization happens in water) while others inhabit in water and land. Several types lead arboreal way of life, but Javanese flying frog (Rhacophorus reinwardti) can even fly to 10-15 meters distance.
True frogs (Ranidae) – family of tailless amphibians (Anura). Spread almost everywhere (except South America, south of Australia and New Zealand).

Frogs living mainly in water have green skin and the land ones - brown or fulvous.
Meat of some types of true frogs is eaten as food.
In Europe widely known type of frogs is grass (Rana temporaria) which has triangular black spots on both sides of head, and also green water frog (Rana esculenta) with yellowish belly. |
