Haha, realy cute. Add some shadow under his head though..

If you look at the rest of his body you'll see that the part pf the tree closest to the animal is the darkest, close to black. Try to do that by the head also. it will look more realistic that way. If i'm being a pain just say so. I hate to be somebody's pain.

John, you should expand you pictures by putting them in dream landscapes or putting more bizar creatures together in one pic to create stange universes and take the gold.
