This contest is fueled by the following news: A fountain - a natural or artificial phenomenon, concluding in the exit of liquid under the influence of pressure rendered on it upwards or sideward's (Latin: fontis). In the last case, especially when the exit of liquid occurs rather quietly, such a fountain belongs to the source category. Naturally formed fountains, which are called "Geysers" are very popular (Yellowstone National Park, Kamchatka). An artificially created fountain is a flowing oil well. Batteries from a set of hot-water water fountains are used for its cooling in thermal power stations. A water fountain is a source of negative ions and according to hygienists, they have a beneficial influence on the human body. Drinking fountains have a utilitarian function, which provide high hygienic safety while satisfying the thirst of drinkers. Customarily, a fountain is a hydraulic facility, as a rule, carrying out a decorative function. Decorative fountains are classified with respect to various features: According to the location – interior or street. With respect to the installation of dynamics in the functioning of fountain and light equipment – dynamically lit, static and "dancing" (or even called "singing" or "musical fountains"). We can separately study the classic or sculptural fountains. Fountain types: Several fountain types are available: * Fountains with pebbles; * Fountains with millstones; * Spring fountains; * Single water jet fountains; * Multi-jet fountains; * Single-bowl fountains; * Fountains with several bowls with water overflow; * Fountains with use of sculptures; * Spray fountains. Fountains are distinguished by architectural concept, location and jet types, thanks to which, you can create a unique water flow picture. More often, sprayers of the following types are used: * Single-jet: Tiny vertical jets with the exit of water up to a certain height; * Tier: Tiny vertical jets eject water up to various heights and thus forming several tiers; * Revolving sprayer: during rotation, water jet form several spiral streams; * "Water jet": ejection of water takes place horizontally from a hole in a decorated wall at a certain distance from the ground surface (reservoir, floor etc.); * "Fish tail": during the ejection of water, several vertical jets are formed, which are scattered in semicircles and thus forming an almost continuous wall of spilling water; * "Geyser": during ejection, the water jet is formed with a large quantity of air bubbles; It is possible to see an image of a Fortuna with cornucopia, decorating the fountain amongst the bas-reliefs in Villa of Mysteries in Pompeii. In Roman mythology, the Fortuna is the Goddess of Luck, Chance and Fortune. Originally, she was the goddess of harvest (the origin of her name from "ferre", "bring", "being pregnant" testifies to this), motherhood and women. A cornucopia and its holder Fortuna are connected with the Beginning and actually represent the Beginning. It is possible to compare the Fortuna with cornucopia and Pandorus with the vessel. In the most ancient myths, the Pandorus appears not as the destroyer of mankind (according to Hesiod) but the progenitress of all people and his "box" = vessel - is a source of all blessings. The "Family tree" of fountains starts in ancient sacred groves with sources which were interpreted as the beginning of all and played important roles in rituals. The luxury of sparkling gold are connected with the cult of the fountains of New times, which eclipses the relative simplicity of sources in pagan sanctuaries or those sources which remain esteemed representatives of all modern religions, however the fact that the royal palace complex is inconceivable without a garden and the central place for a fountain, testifies about the surprising mechanism of historical memory, in which the prototype of fountains and gardens are still preserved even after many millennia. From the memory point of view, it is interesting to understand both the masterpieces of actual fountain art as well as verbal texts. In the "Song of Songs", the bride is compared to a garden: "Closed garden – my sister, bride, well prisoner, sealed source. The garden source is the well of live waters and streams from Lebanon. Among the legends explaining the occurrence of fountains "Manneken Pis" in the central square in Brussels, only two popular ones are being used. One legend says that this boy has rescued the city from the misfortune of The Middle Ages – fire, by peeing. According to the other legend, is slightly more prosaic. This boy is a son of a rich citizen, who had enough money to immortalize his beloved son. Actually, the boy - a typical mythological character, something like Rabelaisian Gargantua, who has eaten an entire cow during a breakfast when he was an infant, at mature age, he swallowed (without noticing) palmers along with salad and when he was bored of the troublesome Parisian crowd, he "unfastened his incomparable fly front" took out something from there and peed so abundantly that 260418 people were sunk without taking women and children into account". The peeing boy statue of Manneken Pis has around 2000 costumes in his wardrobe and the statue is dressed differently almost daily. It is extremely curious, since statues of Pagan gods were once regularly washed, dressed and decorated.
