| | Fat people are no longer allowed to enlist for the army until they lose weight. Jon Schoenherr expected a warm reception when he entered an Army recruiting office in his Midwestern farming community, planning on signing up. After all, the U.S. is at war and in need of a few good men to serve. In fact, a sergeant gave the 17 year old young man some surprising news. Jon was told that he was somewhat fat and needed to lose a little bit of weight before he could enlist. He was told he needed to drop 50 pounds to qualify for Army service. Jon has become a local celebrity due to the media covering this news. In other words Tom literally has become a celebrity among fat people and is not rushing to lose weight and lose his status.
