| Why do people, and particularly women, get fat? From people's birth, man's body has the ability to "burn" fat faster than a woman's body. Women's lipocyte is larger and more active than the male's lipocyte, so women lose weight much slower than men and gain weight very fast. Lipocyte stubbornly resists people's attempts to control weight, for which it is necessary to understand about the lipocyte and how it functions.
Few people know that around 30 million fat cells, or lipocytes, are present in body. The sole task of fat cells is to store calories, when people do not need them and "burn" the stored calories when the body needs. Human fat cell does not "function" alone. It certainly needs help.
Such assistants are human enzymes, which transport fat into a cell & from it. Enzymes, which help people to accumulate fat, are called lipogenetic; while human enzymes, which help "burning" the fat are called "steatolytic". People should understand that the main difference between the fat cells of males and females lies in different functioning mechanism of the enzymes & the size of fat cells. Woman organism has more human lipogenetic enzymes, promoting accumulation of fat & larger fat cells. On the contrary, men have more "steatolytic" enzymes, which "burn" the fat and relatively smaller sized fat cells. In simple words, female organism stores fat quickly & more effectively while the man's organism, on the contrary, ensures quick and effective burning of fat. So for fat people, women lose fat slowly, while males accumulate fat very slowly. The main reason why there are more women than men among fat people, despite all women's efforts of becoming slim, is that they are women.
Fat people news: Men's Fitness magazine has named Houston as the fattest city in the United States. This is the fourth time in five years that Houston has topped the list, as fat people constitute the large margin of the population in Texas. Four other cities in the Lone Star state are also found in the list of top 25 cities with obese people in the United States according to the magazine. Houston actually has twice the national per capita average of fast food restaurants in the country. In addition, poor air quality, high humidity and some of the longest commute times in the county has contributed to the dubious distinction Houston has received. Detroit received such fat honor in 2004. |
