It doesn't take batteries and makes no noise, and it's a toy that we can all relate to from our own childhoods. Etch-A-Sketch, the classic children's drawing toy, has turned 50 this month.
Over 100 million of the toys have sold worldwide since it first went on sale in the US in July 1960 for $2.99.
The world's most famous Etch-A-Sketch artist is Tim George of Ohio, aka "Mr. Etch A Sketch", whose motto is "Shake my hand, not my work." Many of his works are the portraits of American presidents. Tim said each piece takes about 15 hours and he likes to do it in one sitting with only bathroom breaks.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Etch-A-Sketch,
photoshop it any way you wish. Some examples are - merging Etch-A-Sketch with some objects or animals, creating art with it, finding alternative uses for Etch-A-Sketch, showing them in movie posters and paintings, etc.
