Advanced Photoshop Pictures Contest - 26 image entries
Etch-A-Sketch

Contest Directions:  Ohio Statehouse features an interesting exhibition this February - 56 art pieces created with Etch-A-Sketch. All 56 pieces framed in the famous red-plastic borders were created by Tim George, aka "Mr. Etch A Sketch", whose motto is "Shake my hand, not my work." Many pieces are the portraits of American presidents. The artist said each piece takes about 15 hours and he likes to do it in one sitting with only bathroom breaks.
Photoshop Etch-A-Sketch any way you wish. Some examples are - merging Etch-A-Sketch with some objects or animals, creating art with it, finding alternative uses for Etch-A-Sketch, showing them in movie posters and paintings, etc.

This contest is fueled by the following news:
An Etch-A-Sketch is a developing game. It presents itself an air tight closed box, which is closed from the top with a glass. Inside the box there is aluminum powder and a metallic cursor on two axes, the acute end of which is pressed to the glass. The control with the cursor is made with the help of two handles, movable horizontally and vertically. During movement with the cursor on the screen, covered with the adhered aluminum powder, the picture appears in the form of dark lines on the silver background (on account of the erasable powder from the glass). “Discard” games are presented by shaking (or turning over) the screen, after which the aluminum powder totally covers the previous picture. The game was created by Arthur Grandzyan in the middle of the 20th century (he named it as L'Ecran Magique in French, a magical screen). Successively the rights of the game were sold to the company Ohio Art, which named it in English as Etch A Sketch. In 1960 the game was released in massive production. Especially the game gained popularity in the USA. The game appeared in the 1980s in Eastern Europe as the name “Magical Screen”. The production was done without the right from the franchisor. After personal computers became widely used the game essentially decreased in popularity .
