Eddie Murphy
Contest Directions: Eddie Murphy continues to be humorous and crazy at 50 - the star celebrated his big birthday on Sunday, April 3. Making his way up the laughing scale, Murphy initially made his name as a stand-up comic before a stint on Saturday Night Live shot him into the humor stratosphere. Today we present you some interesting facts about Eddie Murphy:
* Murphy began his profession early, writing stand-up routines when he was only 15 years old after being inspired by comedian Bill Cosby.
* He has dated Halle Berry, Whitney Houston and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown.
* In June 2007, DNA tests confirmed that Eddie was the father of Mel B's baby - despite Eddie's insistent claims that he wasn't.
* In numerous films, Eddie plays multiple roles in addition to his primary character.
* Eddie has starred in a lot more sequels than any other actor: Beverly Hills Cop 2 & 3, Another 48 Hrs, Doctor Dolittle 2, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps and Shrek 2.
* Eddie also started a music career in the 80's where he recorded the popular 'Party All The Time' with Rick James.
*, Eddie was once paid $1 per minute as a stand-up comedian.
* Murphy admitted he hated facing his 50th birthday, because he'd look like a "creepy old man" if he hits on girls.

And here's a quote from Eddie Murphy: "I think in twenty years I'll be looked at like Bob Hope. Doing those president jokes and golf sh*t. It scares me."
To mark the 50th birthday of Eddie Murphy, photoshop him any way you wish.

This contest is fueled by the following news: Edward "Eddie" Regan Murphy (born April 3, 1961, Brooklyn, New York) - An American comedian, whose peak of popularity came during the 1980s. Eddie Murphy is famous for his roles of Axel Foley in the movie series "Beverly Hills Cop" and also for the leading roles in the films such as "48 Hrs", "Boomerang", "The Nutty Professor", "Holy Man", "Dr. Dolittle", "Meet Dave", "The Adventures of Pluto Nash", "Coming to America", "Norbit", "The Haunted Mansion" and others. Eddie Murphy has also tried to record and produce songs but was unsuccessful. He has lent his voice to many cartoon characters including Donkey in the animated film "Shrek" and in its sequels. In 2007, Eddie Murphy was awarded a "Golden Globe" for best supporting role in the musical film "Dreamgirls". Apart from this, he successfully worked in the "stand-up" comedy genre. Eddie Regan Murphy was born on April 3, 1961 in the Bushwick area, in Brooklyn, New York. Eddie Murphy's mother, Lillian, worked as a telephone operator and his father, Charles Edward Murphy, worked as a transit police officer. Charles Edward Murphy was an amateur actor and comedian. Eddie Murphy and his older brother, Charlie, grew up in Roosevelt, New York, along with their mother and stepfather Vernon Lynch, who worked as a foreman at an ice-cream factory. Approximately, at the age of 15, Eddie Murphy wrote and performed his own numbers, which were influenced heavily by Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor. Due to his comic abilities, which developed already in early classes, Eddie Murphy enjoyed the respect of the students and teachers. His stepfather, noticed the outstanding abilities of Eddy, and strongly supported Eddie's creative endeavors. Eddie's acting abilities began to fetch him dividends already by the age of 15 and Eddie Murphy received decent money as remuneration, which was quite high in those days for his performances in various comedy clubs. One of the most popular comedy shows of those years was "Saturday Night Live". Eddie deservedly gets into it at the age of nineteen (1980). Being at the peak of his popularity, the actor made attempts to "gain a foothold" on big screen. Eddie Murphy's debut film in 1982 was the police action film "48 Hrs", along with Nick Nolte and was fairly successful. The following comedy film "Trading Places" in 1983 and "Beverly Hills Cop", which was released in 1984 made Eddie Murphy a superstar. The film "Beverly Hills Cop" was a runaway success. The sequel "Beverly Hills Cop II" was also a success. The comedy film "Coming to America", which was released in 1988 was a huge success also, but a career slump was noticed after the release of this film. A year later, Eddie Murphy tried his hand in direction. However, the film "Harlem Nights", which was released in 1989 and directed by Eddie Murphy, was not received well by the public and disappeared unnoticed. This is followed by a series of weak roles in the films "Boomerang" (1992), "Vampire in Brooklyn" (1995) and "Beverly Hills Cop III". The actor reestablishes himself as a great comedian a year later by playing multiple roles in the comedy "The Nutty Professor". In America, the film was a success and the film was recognized as one of the best comedy movies of 1996. Eddie Murphy could not consistently portray roles and therefore, not all of his subsequent roles proved to be successful and films such as "Life"(1999) and "Holy Man" (1998) turned out, frankly, to be unsuccessful, but "Doctor Dolittle"(1998) and "Bowfinger" (1999) were a success with the audience. For some time Eddie Murphy's personal life has been pretty saturated. Eddie Murphy lost the trial on charges of plagiarism (for the film "Coming to America"), and multiple processes on charges of sexual harassment and establishing paternity. However, in 1993, Eddie Murphy married model Nicole Mitchell. At the moment he is the father of five children, and rarely appears in public and visits a psychoanalyst. Awards and nominations: 1983 Grammy award for his comedy film. 1990 Worst Screenplay for "Harlem Nights" ("Razzie"). 1997 - Best Actor "The Nutty Professor" (National Society of Film Critics Award, Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, USA). 2007 - Best Supporting Actor - "Dreamgirls" (Golden Globe, SAG Award and Broadcast Film Critics Association Award). 2008 - Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Supporting Actress - "Norbit" ("Razzie").
