| This contest is fueled by the following news: |
| | On Tuesday, a high school volleyball player had a very painful sprained finger. With that said, she really wanted to play in a game on Friday. Thus, her family sought out the assistance of a Native Hawaiian healing practitioner. The practitioner pounded leaves of a plant, mixed with a pinch of Hawaiian salt and then massaged the girl's arm. She then placed the girl's finger in the mixture. An ever growing number of residents of Hawaii are turning to traditional healing practices as an alternative to or in addition to visiting a regular doctor.
