| | Some 4,000 endangered frogs have been saved by the Peruvian government. These frogs were intended for use in what is a popular drink in Peru. Frog cocktails have become popular throughout the Andes because these beverages are said to have aphrodisiac qualities. In fact, in Lima (the Peruvian capital) customers actually can pick a frog from a tank for their drink. The Telmatobius frogs, which are endangered, were found stored in a such a tank -- but have since been returned to the wild.
