This contest is fueled by the following news:
The fashion conscious raised their eyebrows when Vice President Dick Cheney arrived at a commemoration of the liberation of the Nazi death camps wearing a very utilitarian down parka and snow boots. He did replace the parka for a more traditional black coat when he commenced his actual tour of Auschwitz. Political Career of Arnold Schwarzenegger: In 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected to the post of Governor of California from the Republican Party. He became the 38th Governor of this state and the first Governor of the State, who was born outside the U.S., since the Irishman John G. Downey, who was elected in 1860. The U.S. media accompanied the election campaign headlines “Governator” (a combination of “Terminator” and “Governor”), "The Running Man" and "Terminator 4: Rise of the candidate" (the allusion for name of the movie “Terminator-3: Rise of the Machines”). The election of the new Governor was accompanied by the second recall in U.S. history. The current head of the State, Gray Davis, which had put the state into a financial and energy crisis, which gave the media a reason for the headlines “Total Recall” (refers to Schwarzenegger's famous movie, released in Russian and titled "Total Recall"). In his career, he soon ran into strong opposition, unfolded a compromising campaign against him and suffered significant drop in rankings. Despite this, in 2006, Arnold was reelected for a second term. His tenure ends in 2011 and according to the Constitution of California, Arnold cannot seek a third term. Arnold started a campaign in the state for curtailing expenditure and he refused the Governor’s pay of $175000 per annum within the frameworks of this campaign. After his re-election, Arnold finally moved to the political center between the Republicans and Democrats; he supported the signing of the Kyoto Protocol, was against the war in Iraq and entered into a series of conflicts with President George W. Bush. According to the U.S. Constitution, Arnold Schwarzenegger has no right to run for the post of US President because he was born outside the United States. Presently, the prospect of his presidency (by making corresponding amendments to the Constitution) is unrealistic: I support the people, who are in favor of the amendment. But, the decision taking is the heaviest thing that will take many years. I may not live to see the amendment being implemented. In April 2005, Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the law SB 424 about the declaration of the week, including April 24 of every year, as a Remembrance week of Armenian Genocide. In late 2007, Arnold was criticized for "Amendment SB 777”, which provides a list of types of discrimination, banned in public schools, in accordance with a definitive part of the law on hate crimes. The main volley of criticism was directed against the inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in this list. As a Republican, Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the beginning of his political career, firmly opposed same-gender marriages. However, during the loud public debate and a string of lawsuits in California, he changed his stance and urged to renew their registration. He refused to be a respondent in the federal court proceedings of “Perry v. Schwarzenegger”, which casts doubt on the constitutionality of banning same-gender marriages. Schwarzenegger recalled that, he swore to safeguard the U.S. Constitution and the ban on same-gender marriages, in his opinion, contradicts it. The result of the process can be the legalization of same-gender marriages throughout the United States.
