| | There seems to be some truth to the idea that purebred dogs tend to look like their owners. However, matching a mutt or non-purebred dog to a master is another situation all together according to a recent study. Researchers at the University of California at San Diego report that when people pick a pet dog they do look for one that bears a resemblance to them in some way. In fact, when working to match up purebred dogs with their owners, researchers were able to pair these dogs and masters up two out of three times past on commonality between their looks and appearance alone. With mutts, however, there simply was not a similar correlation between looks and appearance. The findings from this study will be reported in the journal Psychology Science.
