  • Coca Cola ad with Bing Crosby

Coca Cola ad with Bing Crosby
        • Beautiful job, love the reflections. Clean work, and very convincing.
        • "Hi, I'm Bing Crosby. After beating the sh!t outta my kids, I love to sit back and relax with an ice cold Coca Cola"
        • This is nice well thought out entry. Just one nit picky question, why are there numbers on bottom left side?
Handsome guy on seat too, very ... y.

I see numbers are on the source pic, be simple to remove,
        • Congratulations on your first gold. A well-deserving gold indeed. Beautiful work here.

        • Thanks for the support! My goal was for it to look like a real photo some random person took, so i figured it'd be pretty pointless to take the numbers out.
        • Congratulations Renesis...it must feel great to win your first gold!

        • Dean just can't get enough of playing crash test dummy.
        • and he would be dating Porche Rossi too..
        • Looks really well-integrated. Nice touch.
  • Amelia Earhart

    Amelia Earhart
  • Bones

    Bones
        • I think if you tone down the contrast of the white jar it would look a bit more realistic, but otherwise, nice one
        • Bones, lol

This is a damn funny entry!
        • REALLY nice contrast/color match and blend!

Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a pipelayer!
        • The humor has everything: a comic authority (McCoy), a comic blowhard victim (Shatner), and, of course, the ultimate comic product.
  • Lunesta King

    Lunesta King
        • I expect this any day from real advertisers. Next? Jesus Christ for Birkenstock!
        • Good idea, shame text top right is not in the proper persective. A small rotate would fix it.
  • marilyn for motorola

    marilyn for motorola
        • Nice ad, could you post your source pic of Marilyn?
        • monroe is too thin here, how old is she?
        • RECORD OF CALLS FROM (714) 555-5555

3:14 a.m. (unlisted Washington DC umber)
3:17 a.m. (unlisted Washington DC umber)
          3:18 a.m.(unlisted Washington DC umber)
          3:23 a.m.(unlisted Washington DC umber)
3:27 a.m. (unlisted Washington DC umber)
        • Monroe was a size 12 or 14 or something but I felt wrong about making the model fatter since cellphone ads are obsessed with ultrathin models so I tried to make Marilyn Monroe's face a little thinner.

          Source photos: http://www.pjs.net/wr/Marilyn/dl/Pix/Marilyn-Monroe-11.jpg and http://img.adme.ru/2005/12/23/4786/motorazr.jpg

Perhaps source pics should always be shown, so voters know the amount of (little or otherwise) manipulation that a photo has undergone. This I suppose could work either to the Photoshopper's advantage, or disadvantage.

I had to make the neck from scratch since there was hardly any neck to work with in the Motorola ad as the actual model for this ad had hair covering part of her neck, shoulders, and bosom area.
        • Well if you wanna include source pics you can always link to em, no laws against that.
  • J. Edgar Hoover, King of the closet

    J. Edgar Hoover, King of the closet
        • J. Edgar talks about closets. Stay tuned to see him coming out of the closet.
        • Some dresses in that closet woulda been a nice touch.
  • Photochopping Dali

    Photochopping Dali
        • Great idea, lettering lets it down, would be better in red, blue or yellow in a nice sharp sans serif font with not more than a small drop shadow. Primary colours stand out and would set off the box nicely. Arial or Verdana would be fine, with a handwriting or calligraphy font for his signature such as Mistral or Bradley hand.

  • Stooges

    Stooges
        • Any image that doesn't need words is a success!
        • Great entry, (I think i would have desaturated and blended the band aid boxes but thats just personal taste)

...and I second srvon's comment as well. no words needed=brillant ad.

          Why would they need bandaids?

Same reason anybody else would, I should imagine.
  • Radio station using Tupac

    Radio station using Tupac
        • Tune in or he'll personally come bust a cap in yo ass!
        • This isn't all that ubelievable, If I recall, there's still a tupak billboard up in the mall.

          Clean work.
  • Move over Jarrad, John is back

Move over Jarrad, John is back
        • LOL funny! One suggestion - the white lettering is the brightest white in the image, brighter than the sun reflecting off the building sides. Just knocking back the white lettering a bit (say from 255 to 245) makes it look a bit less like a photoshop and more like a real billboard.
        • The billboard is too clean. I would suggest using a bit of blur and/or noise on it. It would make it blend in like the other billboards. If you look at the others, they are a bit blury and almost dirty/faded/smokey.

  • Elvis with Rolex

    Elvis with Rolex
        • the shadow on the watch doesn't match the shadow on his arm

        • i agree with whiterabbit but it still very nice....
        • Nice blending! Shouldn't he have aleoparskin rhinestone band, though?

He had a clumsy looking digital watch on the source pic.

        • Great! Hairline area could be cleaner though dear

        • Baimoo I agree with Niels, although it is well done, it isn't in good taste.

I was under the impression that the whole point of this contest wast to point out how in bad taste using dead celebs in your advertisments actually is.
The whole concept is in bad taste in the real world.
        • I agree Midian...now I will go gargle
  • Big smile

    Big smile
        • Love it =D

Teeth area could've been desaturated a little, as the sides are rather yellow

        • Garnier comes out with their new extra big jumbo packs. buy one and have a shampoo supply for the rest of your life. Diana endorsed.
        • Real nice work on the bland, and nice job matching the reflection...

Only tip I could offer is maybe using the dodge tool a touch on the very edge of her hair to soften that edge down and simulate the same bright light as the bottles. This is a VERY nitpicky thing I found after looking at it for several minutes. Oh and there's also a teeny smudge of blue on her ankle... thats a quickfix
        • Nice job.

(The relection of the left foot is missing and there's some stuff on the same ankle and the jpeg noice could be reduced)
        • Agree about refection of left foot and the blue bit on ankle needs removing. Otherwise nice job. Be even better if clearer source pics had been used, but I understand how hard it can be to find them. Try to use original pictures over 100kb preferably more, for your chops.
        • I think you did a very good job. The Diana in the photo you did came out very clear. No questions who she is at first look.
  • Saved by the Gel

    Saved by the Gel

        • they double the amount of Councellars on Saturday Night..Live!
        • OK, this is just me, but I prefer continuity (Belushi's left arm area continues down to the left of NARCONON instead of chopped off) =D hehe
        • Text perspective not quite right on the logo.
        • Very clever concept!
Tiggy, nice to see you chopping at FN!

        • I think JFK agree to your headline. Hes smiling
        • Stewardess! Stewardess! If we're going to fly upside-down I need another pillow!
        • Great Idea, the text would be better if it were larger by about 2 or 3 points and the space between the top two lines closed up a bit. It could be wrapped arounf JFK jr's head. I mean bring photo in so it is under the top line.
        • I can't say I blame you. I have been afraid of flying again since the 9/11 thing. It is not as safe right now as they are letting on.

[Edited by User on 4/8/2006 4:41:45 AM]
        • No we're not too young. We know who she is. We just think it's Rosa. Not Rossa.
        • what v1nc3nt said. don't be too quick to judge, rabbit
        • Definitely ROSA. I think using the actual Hertz font would be better.
  • Victor Wong "WAX ON!"

    Victor Wong
        • That's the wrong guy. Yeah I know, They all look the same.
        • dude how could you put the wrong guy on the pic
        • You mean "cleaner" right? The words should be within the splash (or whatever you call it). Everything you added does not look like it is actually on tv, you needed to add texture to make it look like a real commercial. Potentially good idea, but real lack of effort on this one.
        • Picture could do with more contrast. I have no idea who the guy is. As an image it needs tidying up. Probably have been better without the tv screen.
  • shine ur hair...

    shine ur hair...
        • Better source pic of Di would be better, but I think you did very well.
        • Nicely put together, you do need better source images though. If you take look in the forum Photoshop tutorials, there are links to good source images. Or you can put in a request there for some and help will be given.
You have talent and are doing a good job.
        • The hair could look better. Purple and green do not look good on the Princess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Head Shot

    Head Shot
        • Cover up those nasty holes on (in) your head.
        • The lettering spoils it, too much black round the letters a less condensed font would be better too.

        • Shame source image is not better quality.

This contest is fueled by the following news: Deceased Saturday Night Live funnyman Chris Farley has been resurrected for a series of billboard advertisements. He died eight years ago from a drug overdose. The ads plug a new treatment for drug and alcohol abuse from Hythiam, Inc. Farley's body was discovered on December 18, 1997, in his apartment in Chicago. After an autopsy, a coroner determined that Farley died from an overdose of morphine and cocaine. He was 33 at the time of his death. The first of the billboards went up in Los Angeles and features an image with the legend that his death wasn't all his fault. The billboard was put up on the Sunset Strip next to Hollywood's Chateau Marmont, the famed hotel in which John Belushi, another Saturday Night Live alum was found dead from an overdose of cocaine and heroin when he was 33 years of age. Belushi died in 1982. According to the Los Angeles Times, the ads actually mark the first time that Farley's estate has approved the use of his image for commercial purposes since he died. Five more billboards featuring Farley will be put up in other locations around LA during coming weeks. Hythiam is also negotiating with the estates of some other deceased celebritities to use in ad campaigns geared towards older adicts. The company has declined to release the names of the deceased stars they are seeking to use in future ads.
