| The famous American comedian David Letterman was born on April 12,
1947. During his broadcasting career he went a long way from radio
talk show host to stand-up comedian to weatherman to
Late Night show host at NBC which first brought him fame
and success. In 1993 he moved to his current job of The Late Show with
CBS. When John Carson made his unexpected announced of retirement from
"Tonight Show", he wanted to pass the seat to David, but NBC bosses
decided instead to offer the job to Jay Leno. Naturally, Letterman
felt unhappy that he was not offered the job and left the company in
1993 to do The Late Show with CBS.
Besides being famous with his show, David is an avid philanthropist
and Indy Racing League car owner. He is once divorced, and is
currently in a long term relationship with his fiancee Regina Lasko,
who is thirteen years younger than David. They have a son together -
born on November 3, 2003 - whom they named Harry Joseph, for
David's father, Harry Joseph Letterman. They reside in New York, in
North Salem. He always was a decent man, never a
Milf hunter, even when he was single.
David's satirical style was influenced by such comedians as Johnny
Carson, Andy Kaufman, and Ernie Kovacs.
In 2000 Letterman had to undergo a quintuple bypass surgery due to the
suddenly discovered problem with his heart artery. During the weeks he
was recovering from the surgery, friends of Letterman featured reruns of the
Late Show with different guests. Upon his return to the show David
was helpful to the doctors who saved his life and to the many fans who
supported him during the difficult time. Naturally he turned this into
a bunch of jokes about his bypass saying that the real bypass happened
when he was not offered the job at Tonight Show with NBC. |
