However, some experts are saying that psychology and statistics are better indicators of whether a couple of people will be happy together in a marriage. EHarmony.com, an online dating service, claims that this is the case, at least. This month, a patent has been issued to EHarmony for its method for identifying people who are likely to pair up into a successful relationship. The U.S. Patent Number issues to the enterprise is 6.735,568. EHarmony uses a series of 430 questions to pair people up. The company does claim that the patent is more than just a gimmick -- referring the press to patents issues to other online operators like Priceline.com (bidding on airline tickets), Netflix.com (renting DVDs online) and Amazon.com (buying books and other products with a single mouse click). |
