| Leonardo Da Vinci's Biography and important dates:
1452 - Leonardo da Vinci, the son of Ser Piero, born in the village of Anchiano, near the town of Vinci;
1466 - Leonardo da Vinci becomes apprentice in Verrocchio’s art studio (in Florence);
1472 - Leonardo becomes a member of the Florence painters' guild;
1472 – 1477 – Leonardo works on “The Baptism of Christ”, “The Annunciation”, “Madonna of the Carnation”
Second half of 1470s Madonna and Child with Flowers, otherwise known as the Benois Madonnais created;
1476 – "Saltarelli Case";
1478 - Leonardo establishes his own workshop;
1480 – according to some resources, Leonardo already had his own workshop;
1481 – Leonardo was ordered to paint a large altar painting “The Adoration of the Magi” (unfinished) for the Monastery of San Donato a Scopeto, Florence; He starts working on his painting “St. Jerome in the Wilderness”;
1482 - Leonardo moves to Milan to join court of Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan; begins work on Sforza's Great Bronze Horse;
1483 – Leonardo begins work on “Virgin of the Rocks”;
1485 – “Portrait of a Musician” is created;
1487 – development of the ornithopter flying machine, based on birds flight
1488 – painting “Lady with an Ermine”;
1489 – anatomical drawings of skulls;
1490 – painting “Portrait of a Musician”. Clay model of Francesco Sforza monument is completed;
1490 – Vitruvian Man – world-renowned drawing, sometimes called the Canon of Proportions;
1490 - 1491 – “Madonna Litta” is created;
1490 - 1494 – “Virgin of the Rocks” is completed;
1495 - 1498 – working on fresco “The Last Supper” at the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan;
1499 – Milan conquered by French army of Louis XII; Leonardo da Vinci leaves Milan, the model of of Francesco Sforza monument is severely damaged;
1502 – Leonardo becomes Cesare Borgia's military engineer and architect;
1503 – Leonardo returns to Florence;
1503 - Leonardo begins work on fresco “Battle of Anghiari” and the painting “Mona Lisa”
1505 – bird’s flight sketches;
1506 – Leonardo comes back to Milan and starts his service at Louis XII, the king of France (who had the north of Italy under his control at that time);
1507 – Leonardo studies the anatomy of the human eye;
1508 – 1512 – works on equestrian monument to Marshal Trivulzio;
1509 – Leonardo paints in the church of Saint Anne;
1512 – self portrait;
1513 – 1516 – life in Belvedere;
1514 – 1516 – work on the “St. John the Baptist”;
1516 – Leonardo returns to France as a court painter, engineer, architect, and mechanic;
