The original volume which the source picture had is lost and the cow looks quite flat here - I would try to fix it.

His shadow doesn't quite line up, a part of his front foot doesn't seem to have a shadow at all. Good idea though.

Actually studying the other cows in this picture the shadows match well i think. However maybe roughing the edges a bit would have made it better, and maybe a little highlight on the cows black bits like the other cows, good chop though

great job painting the cow the shawdow is a bit off, if you look at the shawdows of the other cows you notice there a ruff around the egdges because of the uneven ground.

Imaginative idea. Yup, drop shadow is off a bit an and face could use some shading.
