This contest is fueled by the following news:
The CBS television network has announced that it has plans for a new method of advertising its fall program lineup beginning in September. CBS plans to advertise on your breakfast -- literally. The network announced plans to place laser imprints of its legendary logo trademark, the eye symbol, on eggs ... 35 million eggs. The CBS advertising crew is referring to the project as "egg-vertising." Some of the anticipated ad slogans include: CSI (crack the case on CBS); Shark (hard boiled drama) and The Amazing Race (scramble to win on CBS). CBS advertising execs determined that more traditional ad mediums were crowded and decided to try something new and different. This is according to George Schweitzer who is the president of the CBS marketing group. He noted that the best thing about the egg advertising is the intrusiveness of the whole affair. You cannot avoid it, he remarked. The network so liked the idea that they have made certain that CBS will be the only advertiser using eggs this fall. The imprinting technology was developed by a company in Illinois called EggFusion. The company was founded by Bradley Parker. The laser etching process actually was developed to place expiration dates directly on eggs so people would know that they are getting fresh products.
