Cuban President Fidel Castro, who hasn't been seen in public for 13 months, has made a prediction in a national newspaper that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will be an unbeatable team and will win the 2008 U.S. Presidential elections. Castro suggested that Clinton will run for President and Obama will be her running mate. According to current polls, Clinton is most likely to receive the Democratic nomination, and Barack Obama is running second in ratings. So far in the debates Clinton and Obama have shown many disagreements and differences, yet did not burn the bridges for running together.

| | As candidates for President and Vice-President from Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama can become invincible force to reckon with in presidential elections in the year 2008. Such assumptions are loud heard not only in Washington. American mass information means on Internet widely commenting on the opinions of Cuban leader Fidel Castro, who in his latest article in national paper is predicting the victory in tandem of Clinton-Obama in presidential elections.
It is still unknown how the candidates shall react to such a support. But, the candidates have delivered speeches against the dictatorship of Castro. In a recent speech in Small Havana of Miami region, Senator Obama urged to waive-off the restrictions on the trips of Cuban emigrants from America to Cuba to visit the relatives and also waive-off the restrictions on transfer of money from America to Island and thereby, relieving the Cubans from communist regime. Hillary Clinton opposed immediate changes but added that there may be need for change in the next presidency if Castro is no longer in power.
Whatever is said about possible union of senators Clinton and Obama, but as of now, they are rivals. The supporters of Democratic Party should decide whom to support. A national security advisor under President Jimmy Carter stood in support of Obama. In an interview to television channel “Bloomberg”, he said: «Being an ex first lady doesn’t mean, that being ready for president ship». Brzezinski called Mrs. Clinton’s foreign policy “very conventional”. In his opinion, Obama has both the guts and the intelligence to change the nature of America’s relationship with the world. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton is supported by Madeleine Albright, who was a Secretary of State under the president Bill Clinton, and ex. U.S Ambassador to United Nations.
Expert of Washington’s Institute for World Politics Mr. John Tierney considers that it is not possible to appraise the probable formation of shock duet of Democrats with more than a year left for elections: “Obama doesn’t have any experience in foreign affairs as in the case of Clinton. Nevertheless, Obama rightly specified the way to fight terrorism: Crack down on terrorists, where they are located. Clinton supported the war in Iraq, even though the terrorists were not present in Iraq, who masterminded the September 11 attacks. Theoretically it can be possible that Democratic Party may nominate Hillary Clinton and Obama to the post of President and Vice-President. But why? Serious split between their supporters is visible already. As of now, the Democrats should decide between themselves. But, if, in spite of profound discussions, they could hit a compromise, then it is difficult to confront such a tandem. Individually, each of them can defeat Republicans and moreover together. |
