| The chin is the lowermost part of the face, located from top to bottom from the lower lip. The shape of the chin is determined by the structure of the bones of the lower jaw and the muscles near it: the mental muscle and quadrate muscle of the lower lip, the triangular muscle and also fat deposits. The blood supply reaches it from the lower alveolar artery, and this innervation is accomplished by the mental nerve representing the derivation of the trigeminal nerve.
The so called “mental protuberance”, the bossed torus, going along the lower edge of the mandible bone is characteristic for Homo sapiens. Along with a number of other features, the presence of the mental protuberance allows us to distinguish the fossil remains of Homo sapiens from the remains of extinct types of the family Homo, in particular, from Neanderthal human beings (H. neanderthalensis), for whom, the massive lower jaw without a mental protuberance was characteristic.
The fat folds formed under the chin on neck are usually understood as a “double (threefold) chin”.
Unfortunately, the double chin not only happens in older people. This ugly fold of skin can be formed even at a young age.
Reasons for this are aplenty - overweight, bad posture and the position of the head and the habit of sleeping by using high pillows. It is desirable to fight the above mentioned reasons in order to avoid the formation of a double chin.
But what do you do if this unpleasant section of skin is strikingly visible at a single glance in the mirror? Certainly, it is necessary to do chin exercises:
Cast the head back, relax and slightly open the mouth. Then, without hurrying, lift the lower jaw towards the upper in such a way that the lower lip closes the upper lip. Try to do this, now. Feel, how the neck muscles strain? Try to do this exercise twice or several times in a day.
Sigh deeply, tilt the head back, and slowly exhale, lower the head in such a way that the chin touched the breast. Do this exercise as many times as possible.
Turning the head to one side and to other side can help in reducing the double chin.
Compresses are very effective. Take a terry towel, moisten the towel in cold salted water, slightly squeeze it, take the ends of the towel in both hands and clap the chin with force with it 10 times. After this, rinse the neck with fresh water and dry it.
It is good if a compress procedure is done by a mask, for example, for withering face skin. On completion, remove the mask and tie up the chin tightly for 30 minutes using a dry terry towel.
